(ICL), a long-time supplier of concrete products for commercial, residential, and industrial projects throughout Greater Victoria, has partnered with veritree, a data-driven, restorative platform that connects nature-based solutions with mission-driven companies ready to lead the restorative economy.
Todd Hanson, General Manager of Independent Concrete Ltd., explained. “We have committed to support the planting of 60,000 post-fire trees in the Cariboo Region of BC over the next three years. This partnership with veritree provides confidence that the impacts of our efforts in investing in nature-based solutions are real, measured, and verified. Through this partnership, we are assured that the right trees are planted in the right place and the trees, once planted, stay on the ground as intended. Our goal is to be carbon neutral between our Total Embodied Carbon Footprint reduction initiatives through our Redi-Green® products and the sequestering CO2 benefit of verified tree planting that lasts the lifetime of the trees.”

Developed in Victoria by Independent Concrete Ltd., Redi-Green® is an eco-concrete that conforms to municipal Low-Carbon Concrete requirements. The innovative approach replaces nearly one-third of Portland cement with Supplementary Cementitious Materials (such as fly ash or slag), saving the equivalent of 6,000,000 Kg. of C02 emissions from the environment. By recapturing unused material, Redi-Green® adds over 2 million kilograms of recycled aggregates into the mix and saves over 3 million litres of fresh water annually by reusing the valuable resources.
